TORONTO (August 13, 2014) This fall, audiences get a front-row seat to all-new seasons of the most buzz-worthy and critically acclaimed dramas and comedies, along with live NHL action, when they make their eagerly awaited debuts on FX Canada and FXX. Featured on the roster of must-see programming is a new edition of Ryan Murphy’s thrilling drama American Horror Story: Freak Show, new episodes of off-colour comedies The League and Ali G: Rezurection, returning biker drama Sons of Anarchy, and new NHL game coverage every Saturday night with the addition of Hockey Night in Canada.
American Horror Story (AHS) returns with an all-new gritty and gripping season, premiering Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings). Season 4, Freak Show, is set in 1950s Juniper, FL, and centers around one of the last remaining freak shows of the time.
From bearded ladies to Siamese twins, Freak Show features some of the series’ most familiar faces.
Emmy® Award-winning actress Jessica Lange returns as Elsa Mars, Academy Award® winner Kathy Bates plays Effil Darling, celebrated actress Angela Bassett is Desiree Dupree, Sarah Paulson will do double-duty as Siamese twins Bette and Dot Tattler, Evan Peters plays Jimmy Darling, and Emma Roberts is Maggie. Plus, AHS newcomer Michael Chiklis stars as Wendell Del Toredo, and joining the cast this season is John Carroll Lynch (Fargo), who will play a core villain.
But before viewers get their “freak” on, audiences are invited to ride until sundown with Season 5 of the dark motorcycle drama Sons of Anarchy, premiering Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings). Hailed as SAMCRO’s new president, Jax (Charlie Hunnam) must face the consequences of the club’s illicit deeds before it tears the gang apart. With the threat of RICO still looming, Jax must find a way to protect his family and save his club while a potent new enemy hits the scene.
Every Saturday night, beginning October 11 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT (check local listings), sports fans can catch host George Stroumboulopoulos, along with Ron MacLean and Don Cherry on Coach’s Corner, as part of an expanded Hockey Night in Canada, featuring twice as many Saturday night NHL games than ever before for Canadians.
FXX injects the funny into fall with Season 6 of the quick-witted comedy, The League, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings). The series follows old friends Kevin (Stephen Rannazzisi), Pete (Mark Duplass), Ruxin (Nick Kroll), Taco (Jon Lajoie), and Andre (Paul Scheer), who play in a fantasy football league together. Hilarity ensues as the gang uses every opportunity to make each other’s lives miserable in order to win the league trophy, the “Shiva.”
Immediately following The League, the laughs fill out the full hour, as Season 2 of satirical comedy Ali G: Rezurection premieres Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings). Starring Academy® and Emmy® Award nominated creator and writer Sacha Baron Cohen, the series features every episode of Da Ali G Show, many of which have never aired on North American television.
