TORONTO (January 30, 2017) Now in its fourth year, the Rogers Radio and Seneca College GenNOW internship program is giving three students in their final year of the Broadcasting-Radio program an internship that provides essential on-site, on-air experience, all while earning course credit. The 10-week program launches today, and will add the voices of Seneca students Robyn Thomson, Jordan Kerr, and Leeron Stern to the airwaves.

The up-and-coming talent will host overnight on KiSS 92.5 between 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. Monday to Wednesday. Rogers Radio and KiSS 92.5 ensure ongoing feedback is provided, creating a unique experience for the interns to work closely with programming staff. One of last year’s GenNOW participants, Kayla Pappaianni, went above and beyond during her internship and is now employed as regular on-air talent on the station.

“My GenNOW internship was such a rewarding experience” said Pappaianni, on-air weekend talent and author, KiSS 92.5. “It’s because of the experience I had while interning, along with continued mentorship from the Rogers Radio team that I am a confident, regular on-air host on my favourite station.”

The GenNOW internship program invests in the next generation of local broadcasters in the heart of Toronto – Canada’s most competitive radio market. Since 2013, the partnership between Rogers Radio and Seneca continues to add beneficial value to both the internship program and its interns.

“At Rogers, we are not only committed to putting the best talent on our radio stations today, but we’re equally as passionate about finding innovative ways to support tomorrow’s talent,” said Paul Kaye, National Talent Coach, National Format Director, CHR; and Program Director, KiSS 92.5. “I am excited that another three Seneca students will get their first on air experience with KiSS 92.5 as part of this rewarding internship program.”

"This program is such a huge opportunity for the students to really put to use, in a practical way, the great education they've already received from Seneca” said Jim Carr, Professor – Broadcasting Radio, Seneca. “ It's amazing that Rogers gives back in this way, not only with the opportunity to be on the air, but the time and effort from their staff to mentor the students."
