One Year Later: Rogers Media Recognizes Fort McMurray with Special TV, Radio & Digital Coverage on May 3
EDMONTON (May 1, 2017) – One year after Alberta’s largest wildfire and the costliest disaster in Canadian history, Rogers Media remembers the Fort McMurray wildfire evacuations with stories of recovery and healing. Full-day multiplatform coverage airs May 3 on City, Rogers tv, and Rogers Radio, with additional digital content on Maclean’s, Today’s Parent, and MoneySense.
A vital part of the local community during the 2016 crisis, Rogers Media outlets – including local stations 97.9 ROCK and COUNTRY 93.3 – reported on the disaster with critical updates to keep residents safe and Canadians informed.
As Fort McMurray marks the occasion with dawn-to-dusk community activities, including a pancake breakfast and evening BBQ, Rogers Media will be live on location to bring Canadians coverage of the day:

The special explores the aftermath of the crisis one year later, including the psychological impact, the effect on the local economy, how millions of dollars in Red Cross donations are aiding recovery, how Fort McMurray firefighters are helping the community heal, and plans to rebuild the city and forge a new identity. The Healing of Fort McMurray will also stream live at macleans.ca.
· NEWS RADIO: Features on city infrastructure and planning new emergency routes, the impact on non-profit and charitable organizations, and the Métis after the loss of their headquarters in the fire will air throughout the day on Rogers Media’s news radio network, including 660 NEWS.
