Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Returns for a Two Week Special Television Event on Citytv
Regis is back with a star studded cast of celebrity favourites

(Toronto – Aug 5, 2009) Phone a friend! Everyone’s favourite host Regis Philbin is back in
primetime to host the two-week long Who Wants To Be A Millionaire special event honouring the
10th anniversary of the exciting game show series. Watch as Regis puts a new crop of
contestants in the hot seat to navigate a series of skill testing questions for their chance at
becoming millionaires. Plus, root for your favourite celebs from the world of sports, music and
television as they put their skills on the line to win money for their favourite charities. Play along
with Citytv for two weeks starting Sunday, August 9 at 8pm ET/PT (7pm CT, 9pm MT). Who
Wants To Be A Millionaire will air for 11 nights, Sunday through Thursday at 8pm ET/PT (7pm
CT, 9pm MT) with the finale on Sunday, August 23 at 8pm ET/PT (7pm CT, 9pm MT).
“Citytv is pleased to bring viewers the television event of the summer, celebrating the 10th
anniversary of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,” commented Malcolm Dunlop, Executive Vice
President Programming, Rogers Media Television. “With the return of Regis, the addition of
celebrity players and faster game play than ever before, we are sure that this will create
excitement among viewers as they play along at home.”
This time around ‘Millionaire’ turns up the excitement with a few changes while keeping all the
strongest elements from the original show. In this special edition fans will not only be able to play
along with the regular contestants, but they will get the chance to play along with some of their
favourite stars! At the end of each episode guest celebrities including: Katy Perry (Pop Star),
Lauren Conrad (The Hills) Snoop Dog (Rapper), Steve Nash (NBA player), Rachael Ray (The
Rachael Ray Show), Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty) and others, will be asked a single question in
order to win $50,000 for their favourite charity. See who wins it big, and who should have used a
life line. The 10th anniversary edition will also feature faster game play – with time limits on every
question, contestants will have to go with their instinct in order to beat the clock.
Plus, watch for the return of the ‘Fastest Finger’ and other lifelines including perennial favourites
‘Ask the Audience’, ‘Phone a Friend’, and ‘Double Dip’. Contestants will also have the option to
‘Ask an Expert’ and choose from a list of names including political correspondent Candy Crowley,
Wolf Blitzer, Connie Chung, Sam Donaldson, Gwen Ifill, Ken Jennings, Bill Nye, Jodi Picoult,
Cokie Roberts, Mo Rocca and George Stephanopoulos.
Tune in to Citytv for 11 days of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire starting Sunday, August 9 at 8pm
ET/PT (7pm CT, 9pm MT) and continuing Sundays through Thursdays at 8pm ET/PT (7pm CT,
9pm MT) with the finale on Sunday, August 23 at 8pm ET/PT (7pm CT, 9pm MT).
