(TORONTO – September 14, 2011) With its most dynamic schedule to-date, Citytv delivers the television event of the season with the highly-anticipated two-hour premiere of action-adventure series Terra Nova. Debuting Monday, Sept. 26 at 8pm ET/PT (7CT, 9MT), this buzzed-about drama follows the Shannons, an ordinary family in the year 2149, as they go back in time to pre-historic Earth as part of a daring experiment to save the human race.
From executive producers Steven Spielberg (True Grit, Saving Private Ryan), Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Brannon Braga (FlashForward), René Echevarria (Castle) and Aaron Kaplan (Reconstruction), Terra Nova is a ground-breaking, visually-stunning series that delves 85 million years into the past as humans attempt to recreate their civilization in a new world. This eagerly-awaited, character-driven drama stars Jason O'Mara (Life on Mars), Christine Adams (TRON: Legacy), Stephen Lang (Avatar), Shelley Conn (Mistresses) and Canadian Landon Liboiron (Degrassi: The Next Generation).

In the year 2149, the Earth is dying. When scientists discover a fracture in time that makes it possible to construct a portal into primeval history, the notion to resettle humanity in the past is born. Terra Nova is the first colony established in this beautiful yet foreboding land.
Among those fleeing to the new world are the Shannons, including Jim (O'Mara), a devoted father with a checkered past; Jim's wife, Elizabeth (Conn), a trauma surgeon and the newest addition to Terra Nova's medical team; Josh (Liboiron), their 17-year-old son who is angry to leave life as he knows it behind; Maddy (Naomi Scott, Life Bites), their endearingly awkward 15-year-old who hopes Terra Nova will give her a chance to reinvent herself; and five-year-old Zoe (Alana Mansour), whose very existence endangers the family’s survival. Also living in the colony are Commander Nathaniel Taylor (Lang), the heroic first pioneer and leader of the settlement; Mira (Adams), leader of a splinter colony of renegades vehemently opposed to Taylor and his leadership; and Skye (Allison Miller, Kings), a rule-breaking colonist who befriends Josh.
While Terra Nova is a place of new opportunities and fresh beginnings, all is not as idyllic as it initially appears. The surrounding terrain is teeming with danger and there is something sinister happening within the colony. The Shannons soon come to suspect that there may be forces intent on destroying this new world before it even begins.
In addition to this much-buzzed about television event, Citytv is bringing Terra Nova to Canadians on Saturday, October 1 with the Journey to Terra Nova mobile experience. Stationed at the Rogers Production Studios at Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square, this solar-powered, branded and wrapped experiential activation unit includes a green-screen studio where fans can star in a recreated scene from the series. Additional details to follow at a later date.
