(Toronto – November 25, 2011) Baby it’s cold outside – but Citytv keeps viewers white-hot with merry and bright holiday-themed programming. From grinches to gift-givers, this season, fan-favourite comedies bring even more Christmas cheer to the prime time lineup. Then, as the holiday season winds down, Citytv revs up the excitement as the party station with the annual New Year’s Eve Bash. This year, the four-hour broadcast will feature live performances and celebrations from both Toronto and Calgary. Please see below for a rundown of Citytv’s holiday highlights.

Below is a chronological listing of detailed holiday highlights beginning Monday, December 5. All programming is subject to change.

How I Met Your Mother (s/CBS): Monday, December 5 at 8pm ET/PT (7CT, 9MT)
“Symphony of Illumination”
When Robin (Cobie Smulders) receives bad news, she decides to lie about it to the gang. Meanwhile, Marshall (Jason Segel) hangs Christmas decorations on the house in the ‘burbs with help from his neighbour.

Last Man Standing (s/CBS): Tuesday, December 6 at 8pm ET/PT (7CT, 9MT)
“Last Christmas Standing”
Mike’s (Tim Allen) Christmas spirit gets dampened when Ryan (Jonas Brother - Nick Jonas), the father of Kristen’s (Alexandra Krosney) baby, unexpectedly comes back to town after a long absence. Kristin’s boyfriend, Kyle, (Christoph Sanders) also doesn’t know what to make of Ryan’s return. Meanwhile, Ed (Hector Elizondo) hires Mandy (Molly Ephraim) as an elf at Outdoor Man, where she tries to unionize the other elves to get better perks.

The Middle (s/ABC): Wednesday, December 7 at 8pm ET/PT (7CT, 9MT)
“A Christmas Gift”
On a tipsy whim – and against Mike’s (Neil Flynn) wishes – Frankie (Patricia Heaton) decides to throw a Christmas Eve party at the house. Mike buys Frankie a much needed new dishwasher for Christmas, but has a hard time keeping it a secret when she begs him to replace the old one before the party. Meanwhile, Sue (Eden Sher) calls on Reverend TimTom (Paul Hipp) to explain the meaning of Christmas to Brick (Atticus Shaffer); and Axl (Charlie McDermott) gets annoyed with Bob (Chris Kattan) when he tries too hard to be cool in order to befriend him while working together on a Christmas tree lot.

Suburgatory (s/ABC): Wednesday, December 7 at 8:30pm ET/PT (7:30CT, 9:30MT)
“The Nutcracker”
When Tessa (Jane Levy) overhears George (Jeremy Sisto) break up with his girlfriend, Zoe, (Gloria Votsis) on Skype, she blames herself for his failed relationship and decides that she’s going to get them back together. Unbeknownst to her, though, George is enamored with Tessa’s cute art teacher, Aimee (Ellen Woglom). Later, George decides to embrace the holiday spirit with a tree trimming party complete with his ex-girlfriend, a potential new girlfriend and the Royces, but he soon finds himself under the mistletoe with a special someone.

Modern Family (s/ ABC): Wednesday, December 7 at 9pm ET/PT (8CT, 10MT)
“Express Christmas”
The family is gathered at Jay (Ed O’Neill) and Gloria’s (Sofia Vergara) pool on a sunny December day, and that’s where they realize everyone will be scattered this coming Christmas. If they want to celebrate together, it will have to be today! Everyone sets off with their respective duties for express Christmas: Mitchell, (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) Alex (Ariel Winter) and Lily get the tree; Jay and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) are in charge of gift wrapping; Phil (Ty Burrell) and Manny (Rico Rodriguez) get the groceries; Gloria and Luke (Nolan Gould) go retrieve the ornaments; and Claire (Julie Bowen) and Haley (Sarah Hyland) shop for all the gifts. When they all return in the evening, they find quite the holiday sight.

Happy Endings (s/ABC): Wednesday, December 7 at 9:30pm ET/PT (8:30CT, 10:30MT)
“Grinches Be Crazy”
Max, (Adam Pally) desperate for cash, agrees to dress up as Santa for Penny’s (Casey Wilson) charity event. Meanwhile, Jane (Eliza Coupe) accidently gives housekeeper Gita (Jamie Denbo) the envelope stuffed with money for their big Christmas getaway to Turks & Caicos, instead of the $200 Christmas tip she had planned.

Community (s/NBC): Thursday, December 8 at 8pm ET/PT (7CT, 9MT)
