BEN FLAJNIK BEGINS HIS SEARCH FOR LOVE WHEN THE BACHELOR PREMIERES JAN. 2 ON CITYTV
(Toronto – December 13, 2011) What do a Canadian labour and delivery nurse, a self-proclaimed relationship expert, a Southern sweetie, a vivacious animal lover, and a mid-western huntress all have in common? They all have their sights set on moving to San Francisco with the man of their dreams – Bachelor Ben Flajnik. Embark on another dramatic, romantic journey with the two-hour premiere of The Bachelor, premiering Monday, Jan. 2 at 8pm ET/PT (7CT, 9MT) on Citytv.
Beginning Jan. 16 at 8pm ET/PT, The Bachelor moves to its permanent home on OMNI.2 in Toronto and to OMNI Alberta in Calgary and Edmonton. In Winnipeg and BC, The Bachelor will air on Citytv.
In the season 16 premiere, 29-year-old Ben, the handsome winemaker from Sonoma, meets 25 potential soul mates as he begins his exciting search for true love. While Ben prepares for the night of his life, the 25 beautiful bachelorettes all clamour to meet him, hoping to make a memorable first impression. As the ladies introduce themselves to Ben, the competition for his affection begins with some ladies attempting to set themselves apart in unique and unusual ways. Among them, Erika, a young law student, informs Ben that the verdict is in and he is convicted of being sexy; Emily, a germ-conscious epidemiologist, doesn’t miss a beat, quickly sanitizing both herself and Ben before grabbing the season’s first kiss; and Sheryl, a sprite senior citizen, confesses she is madly in love with Ben upon her surprising arrival.
As the party begins and the “first impression” rose is brought out, the competition ramps up. Shawn, a single, athletic mom, pulls Ben aside for a quick soccer game, while Elyse, an attractive personal trainer, commands Ben to do push ups. Then, Emily decides to show Ben a different side of her personality as she performs a rap she wrote just for him. Later, when forceful Monica upsets Jenna, a sensitive New York blogger, storm clouds begin to brew – particularly since Monica seems a lot more interested in Blakeley than Ben. The commotion and cat fighting culminate in one bachelorette dissolving into uncontrollable tears.
After Ben’s first rose ceremony, 18 women will remain to compete for his affection and, in the end, his heart.
