(TORONTO – February 24, 2012) Citytv is putting the country’s largest talent search at the fingertips of its fans with the new Canada’s Got Talent app for the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ and iPad, now available. For the PlayBook™, the Canada’s Got Talent app is available free on BlackBerry® App World™. On iPad, the app can be downloaded via the App Store or at Leading up to the broadcast premiere, features additional, exclusive, interactive content that further enhances the online offerings currently available on the site. Canada’s Got Talent airs Sundays at 8 p.m. and Mondays at 7 p.m. local time, beginning March 4.


“With the creation of this app and the expanded online content, we are offering an experience to be shared by all Canadians on any platform at any time,” said Andrea Gagliardi, Senior Director and General Manager, Rogers Digital Media, Broadcasting. “Whether up on stage or at home on the couch, performers and fans alike are connected through the features and content that allow them to engage in and fully embrace this competition.”


Beginning March 4, the Canada’s Got Talent app will feature unique show content, including photo galleries, a live chat during every episode, and an interactive “At-Home Judge” component, giving viewers a chance to pull up a seat at the judges’ desk. Users can track the success of each performance in real time as Canadians across the country chime in with their own buzzers. Then, beginning with the first live semifinal round on April 2, viewers can catch a live stream of the Excel Refresh Lounge, sponsored by Excel gum, where digital correspondent Graeme O’Neil will get the backstage scoop from each act. This co-viewing experience will be made available on both the app and website.


The hub for all things Canada’s Got Talent, the interactive site will feature additional premium content that fans won’t be able to find anywhere else. Following the premiere, the site will boast a comprehensive episode guide complete with recaps, commentary, live chats, photo galleries, clips and full episodes, to ensure that fans don’t miss a beat. Beginning March 27, the site will also feature a behind-the-scenes look at the competition through the eyes of the semifinalists as they blog about their experience.


Additional information about the viewer voting component of Canada’s Got Talent will be revealed in the coming weeks.


Canada’s Got Talent is the largest national talent search in Canadian television history and features a colourful array of hopeful stars, including comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists, dancers and singers all vying for a chance to perform on national television and win the coveted title.
